Depression Glass
Ships aka Sportsman's Series
Ships is kind of a fun pattern. It was made by
the Hazel Atlas Glass Co. in the late 1930's. It is known as Sailboat and the
Sportsman Series also. It is a cobalt blue background decorated with white pictures
such as sailboats, cowboys, dancers, windmills, fish, etc. It was also made in
crystal decorated with blue but you don't often see that. The white should be really
white and in good condition with no wear. The shape of the plates is
Moderntone. The 2-1/4" shot glass is the hardest piece to find. The
dinner plates can be elusive. (We are sorry but we cannot email photos of each and
every piece of glass for sale. If you need to see a picture of an item to know what
it looks like we highly recommend The Collector's Encyclopedia of Depression Glass
by Gene Florence.)
