Elegant Glass
Morgantown
Radiant
The Morgantown Glass Works of Morgantown, W.VA was one
of the greatest innovaters in glass design. Its unusual shapes placed it a step
ahead of the other companies of the times. For a period of about 26 years, in the
early 1900s, the company operated under the name of the Economy Tumbler Co, but went back
to the name Morgantown in 1929. The company reasoned that the quality of the glass
they were producing made its name misleading. Some of the colors of their glassware
were blue, ritz blue, pink, red, amber, black, green, jade, amethyst, magenta, yellow,
ruby, etc. etc. The name "Radiant" refers to the shape of the glass.
Radiant was made in 1935. All of the pieces we currently have in this shape
are in red.
