Depression Stems
Paden City Ruby
The Paden City Glass Manufacturing Co was a latecomer
as far as glass companies go. They didn't start operations until 1916. And,
guess what, they were located in West Virginia also. In the beginning they made
mostly tableware plus hotel and restaurant ware. The cutting and etching for which
they are so well known came about later. They began experimenting with color in the
20s. Until 1949 all of their glass was made by hand, often fine-blowing for the
stemware. They switched to automation in 1949 which unfortunately caused them to go
out of business by 1951. Please note, the number (#) preceding each item
refers to our inventory number. Please use the number when inquiring or odering. Thank
you.
