Depression Glass
Lace Edge Pink
aka Old Colony
Lace Edge is also known as Old Colony or Open
Lace. It was made by the Hocking Glass Company from 1936 to 1938. It was made
in pink. Occasionally a piece will be found in crystal or green. It comes in
a complete line and except for the candlesticks, 3-legged console bowl, 9" comport,
sherbet, juice tumbler and 5" footed tumbler, it's not too difficult to complete a
set. However the lace tends to crack so examine pieces carefully. Lancaster
also made a similar pattern so familiarize yourself with the way the lace looks and it
should be easy to spot. Also the glass made by Lancaster was a better quality and
tends to ring when you flick it with your finger. You definitely won't get that
sound with the real Lace Edge. (We are sorry but we cannot email photos of each and
every piece of glass for sale. If you need to see a picture of an item to know what
it looks like we highly recommend The Collector's Encyclopedia of Depression Glass
by Gene Florence.)
