Jeannette Delphite
Jeannette Glass Company began at the end of the 19th
century as a bottle plant in Jeannette, PA. By 1924 it was being described by the
trade as "one of the most complete automatic factories in the country."
Jeannette introduced color in 1925. They produced some of the most popular, not to
mention prettiest, lines of both dinnerware and kitchenware. Their colors included
green, amber, pink, jadite, delphite, chalaine blue, ultramarine and shell pink.
The top picture shows items that are delphite but look brighter than the
shakers shown below. Sometimes the delphite and the chalaine, which is
sort of a bright peacock blue, can be confused.
