During the depression era refrigeration wasn't what it is now and it was important to keep ice on hand.  Numerous companies, such as Jeannette, Cambridge, McKee, Fostoria, Fenton, Hocking, Fry, Paden City, etc. etc.,   made ice buckets in a variety of colors.  They were also made in a variety of shapes, sizes and patterns.  The red one shown below was made by Hocking as part of its Royal Ruby line and the striped one by Hazel Atlas.
