Depression Glass
English Hobnail Amber

English Hobnail was made by Westmoreland Glass from the 1920's to the 1940's and then again in the 70's.  It was made in pink, green, ice blue (turquoise), cobalt blue, black, red, crystal and amber.  The crystal and amber were mostly made in the 40's.  Cobalt, black and red are very very hard to find.   Actually any color other than crystal can be a challenge; but there were lots and lots of pieces made in pink and green and a fair amount in the ice blue.  The reason you see turquoise in parenthesis next to ice blue is due to color variation.  The ice blue is quite pale compared to the turquoise.  This pattern is often mistaken for Miss America but one easy way to tell the difference on plates and bowls is the rays in the center.  In Miss America they are of even lengths and on English Hobnail they're not.   (We are sorry but we cannot email photos of each and every piece of glass for sale.   If you need to see a picture of an item to know what it looks like we highly recommend The Collector's Encyclopedia of Depression Glass by Gene Florence.)
