Depression Stems
Central Glass Yellow and
Amber
Central Glass began in the 1860's in Wheeling, W.VA.
The company made tableware for both the home and commercial establishments such as
hotels. They did a great deal of etching and cutting as well as supplying blanks to
other companies for decoration. They had an excellent reputation for quality goods
and introduced color in the 1920's. Unfortunately, like so many other companies,
they went out of business in 1939 due to the Depression. We have
called the colors in this glass yellow and amber for the sake of ease.
The yellow is more of a slightly greenish yellow similar to the
semi-precious gem "peridot" and the amber is a very deep rich amber like
that of a fine Napoleon brandy. Please note, the
number (#) preceding each item refers to our inventory number. Please use when
inquiring or ordering. Thank you.
