Depression Stems
Central Glass Lilac
Central Glass began in the 1860's in Wheeling, W.VA. The
company made tableware for both the home and commercial establishments such
as hotels. They did a great deal of etching and cutting as well as
supplying blanks to other companies for decoration. They had an
excellent reputation for quality goods and introduced color in the 1920's.
Unfortunately, like so many other companies, they went out of business in
1939 due to the Depression. The goblet below is in the "Balda" pattern
named after the person who created the design. The color is called
lilac or orchid or amethyst. We think it's more of a soft lilac - not
as dark as amethyst and not as pink as orchid. Please note, the
number (#) preceding each item refers to our inventory number. Please use when
inquiring or ordering. Thank you.
