Depression Glass
Bead and File Red
The pattern, Bead and File, was made by The Canton Glass Company.
We believe it was made in the late 1940's to the early 1950's. We know
that the company began in 1883 in Canton, OH. In 1890 the factory
burned to the ground and the company moved to Beaver Falls, PA and just 2
months later relocated to Marion, IN. In 1899 Canton became part of
the National Glass Works. National went out of business in 1910 but
Canton survived. They moved to Hartford City, IN in 1958 and they are
still there but no longer producing glass. They made all types of
tableware in such colors as ruby, cobalt, rose,
green, crystal and golden amber. We do not know what other pieces
were made in this particular pattern but they seemed to make complete lines
so we're sure there are many other pieces out there. The red is
extremely deep and rich.
