Elegant Glass
Balda Lilac

Balda is a lovely etching that was created by Central Glass during the depression era.  Central is one of those companies that doesn't come to mind as often as some of the other companies such as Heisey, Fostoria and Cambridge.  However, they produced very fine and beautiful glass.  Balda was produced from the 1920s to the 1930s.  It was made in amber, amethyst, black, blue, crystal, green and pink.  The amethyst, seen here, is also known as lilac and orchid.  The pattern was made in a small variety of pieces but it did include dinner plates, cups and saucers, a soup size bowl, goblets and a few serving and accessory pieces.
