Depression Glass
American Sweetheart Pink

September 26, 2013

Hi Everyone,

This past year and a half has been a difficult one. My wonderful husband, Frank, died in February after a long illness. Since then I've been dealing with everything that entails. Unfortunately my business, First Class Glass, has suffered from lack of attention and will continue to do so because of everything I still have to do. So I have decided to take a break.

Starting now, and until further notice, I will not be taking any orders for First Class Glass. Come this spring I will do a complete update and be open for business.

Thank you for your continued patronage.

See you in the spring.

Caren Reed

American Sweetheart was manufactured from 1930 to 1936 by MacBeth Evans Glass Company. You will find it mostly in pink and pink which is a transparent white. The pink is generally quite light and the pieces, except for the cups, sugar and creamer, are rather delicate looking.  American Sweetheart was alsomade in a deep rich blue and dark vivid red which are somewhat hard to find. There are a large variety of pieces including serving pieces. Not all pieces were made in all colors most notably the tumblers which can only be found in pink.  (We are sorry but we cannot email photos of each and every piece of glass for sale.  If you need to see a picture of an item to know what it looks like we highly recommend The Collector's Encyclopedia of Depression Glass by Gene Florence.)
